Praising God in the Struggle! [Pt.1]

This is the first part of a two-part series that I will be starting! This topic was hard for me because I really wanted to pick something that people struggle with, however I think that there are two different type of people so I wanted to address both sides. Some people find it harder to praise God in the struggle than in the blessings. While others find it difficult to focus on God in the blessings, but only lean on God when life gets tough. So I wanted to break this up into two parts and talk about both! Enjoy!

So today we will be focusing on how to praise God in the struggles of life! This could mean anything to you really, it could be any struggle, something as small as stressing about a math test or something as large as a family or friend’s death. No matter what it is though there are a plethora of blessings surrounding us, we just need to condition our minds to focus on these blessings.

Well how do we condition our minds to focus on blessings?

Well you have to be patient because it will not happen over night, and it will take discipline and hard work.

When does it feel like you rely on God the most? Or when do you feel like that you are leaning on God more than usual? Well the most common answer is “I lean on God the most when I am struggling with something in my life!” Well as it is not a bad thing to rely on God in this time of your life. It becomes a bad thing when that is the only time of your life when you rely on God.

  1. We should be centering God, in the mist of our everyday lives.
We should not just be focusing on God when the times get tough. God wants us to rely on Him don’t get me wrong, but we need to make sure that we are relying on Him all the time, and not just when things get out of “our” hands.
I firmly believe that if we keep our eyes focused on God all the time, that when the struggles come around, and they will, we have a strong foundation on which to stand firm on. You see lets look at an example.
If two countries were going to war, Country A and Country B. Country A is constantly training and building up there army, and they have invested time and money into building a strong army for many years. Country B on the other hand, doesn’t really have an army, and they only start building one up when they go to war. Who is going to win this war?
Well the same principle applies to our spiritual walk. if we build our foundation(army) centered around Gods word we will be more than prepared to face the enemy. However if we are a Country B, on don’t prepare and don’t build our foundation(army) before the war starts. Then when we try to make a quick army that doesn’t have the right training, we are setting ourselves up to lose.
Is it starting to make sense?
Lets see what the Bible has to say about this.

Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you?  Be strong and courageous.  Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.

Well I mean this sums it up! I mean this is encouraging! This is comforting, no matter your circumstance, Go is with you! So what is there to be afraid of? What court can charge you?
Here is something I wrote the other day
What court can you possibly be charged in, No one can condemn you. Because if I[God] Dont than absolutely no one can. So what court can you be charged in? EVERYTHING IS GODS AND IT ALL WORKS OUT IN THE END. So what court can you be charged in? When God established every government on this planet for His purpose, what court can you be charged in? What are you scared of? Death? Please, to die only means you are spending eternity with God. So what court can bring charges against you when you are a child of God? Where do you find your identity? Because if it’s not in God than the worst trial you will be on isn’t on this earth but it’s after you have passed. BUT, If you find your identity in God than absolutely NOTHING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, can be charged against you EVER. So, what court can you be charged in? So why are Christians just sitting back and being fearful and not bold? WHEN YOU HAVE GOD ON YOUR SIDE, THERE ISNT EVEN AN ENEMY OF COMPARISON THAT COULD FIGHT YOU. What the devil? Satan? He’s not even on the same spectrum of power that God is on. There is No not one, enemy that can hurt you.
So be bold
So when there is nothing to be afraid of, we can know that god is by our side, even in the midst of tragedy and despair!
Now lets take a look at the main point
It is very hard to praise God when we are going through struggle, actually it is extremely hard. I mean how many of you have ever said to your self, “Why would you do that to me God?” Every one of us should have our hand in the air. Its hard, when we find our selves in the middle of terror, whether it be a murder, car accident, our sickness;
    2. We tend to “Blame” God instead of “Praise” God
There has been this post that has gone viral on the internet , I don’t have it handy with me, but it goes a little like this.
Bad thinking;
  • I have to wake up so early.
  • I am always doing laundry.
  • I never like cooking.
  • I work extremely long hours for a low wage.
  • I have the worst co workers

Good thinking;

  • I get to wake up early to spend time with the family.
  • I have plenty of clothes to clean.
  • I have food I can cook.
  • I work a long day to provide.
  • I get to be a light to others at work

Do you see the difference in the ways of thinking? Which one are you? If you are the top one start thinking like the second one. Yea I know it wont be easy but through constant and consistent focus, you will see a difference in the way you think and process information.

Philippians 4:8

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.

Make this a cornerstone verse in your daily life.. Base your day and your mind around this verse and you will be amazed by what kind of fruit you produce as a result of this thinking.

“The brain processes 400 Billion bits of information a second, however we are only aware of 2,000 of those bits!”

Umm… Wow that’s mind-blowing, we don’t even know what is running in the background of our head because we are not even aware that we are processing the information that we are processing. That is why it is crucial to barrage our brain with positivity, because we get negativity into the background part of our mind, once that negativity enters the back 399,999,998,000 bits of information that our brain processes, it will spread like a virus and we wont even notice it because we don’t know what’s going on back there. We don’t want negativity to become our default, but when we let it in our mind, eventually it will be our default. Our default should be God, but we have to consciously make the choice to put God in the forefront of our thinking every second of the day.

  3. Our thoughts can either be the Devils playground or a place of unconditional positivity.

We cannot give the devil that foothold, of our brain. The devil already has the earth and the corrupted world. Why on earth would we give him our mind as well. Lets keep our brain open to what God has for us. Because if we focus on what god wants for our life, and if we focus on how God wants us to live. We will see global change, but it all starts with the right mindset.
