Anxiety | Bayli Webb
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes.” Luke 12:22-23
Jesus commands us not to worry. The question is how do we avoid the “what if’s” that pop up in our head? Only faith can free us from the anxiety caused by worldly things. This might be fear of failure, comparison, the future, health & death the list goes on. Worry is pointless because it can’t fill our needs. What God accomplishes for us and promises to us is the ultimate triumph over all that terrifies us. He does not promise us escape from misery in this world, He promises that He will redeem every misery (Romans 8:28) and that in Him we will overcome the worst the world can do to us (John 16:33 ; Romans 8:35-39). The only way we can fulfill this command is by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, presenting your request to God. Then peace of God, transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ. (Philippians 4:6-7) We cast our anxieties on God (1 Peter 5:7) and cease to be anxious in the strength he supplies (1 Peter 4:11) As Jon Bloom saids your anxieties talk to you, don’t talk back instead talk to and lean on God. Also have some perspective on your problems, be honest about anxiety and open up to people who love you and God. Have those people pray for you to find wisdom and strength to deal with your worries. Only God can give you the assurance that everything will be ultimately be okay.
