It’s pretty simple. Who You say I am. As humans, we all have this yearning to know who we are and how we are defined as a person. We seek our definition in our friends or significant other or societal standards, but those are never enough. They are never steady or constant. They are merely circumstantial. So instead of looking for our identity in worldly opinions, why don’t we base our image of ourselves on who God says we are because he is never-changing. I just want you to read this list of verses, breathed out by our Lord, that tells us how exactly he views us.

Take a look…

John 1:12

“yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God

Ephesians 1:5

“he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will”

Colossians 2:9-10

“for in Christ all the fullness of the deity lives in bodily form, and in Christ you have been brought to fullness”

Genesis 1:27

“so God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”

Jeremiah 1:5

“before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations”

1 Corinthians 12:27

“now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it”

1 Peter 2:9

“but you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light”

1 John 3:1-2

“see what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!”

Acts 13:38-39

“let it be known to you therefore, brothers, that through this man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, and by him everyone who believes is freed from everything from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses”

Romans 3:24-25

“for all have sinned and fall short to the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus”

Romans 5:10

“for while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son”

1 Corinthians 3:16

“do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?”

1 Corinthians 6:11

“and such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God”

1 Corinthians 15:10

“but by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain

2 Corinthians 5:13

“therefore, if anyone is on Christ, he is a new creation

Ephesians 2:6

“and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus”

Colossians 1:22

“he has now reconciled in his body by his death in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him.”

2 Timothy 1:9

“who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works, but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began”

1 Peter 2:4

“as you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious.”

This is only the start of what scripture tells us about who we are in Christ. I encourage you to find your identity in the One who made the ultimate sacrifice for you.

Lord, I pray we can soak in all that You say we are. That we are holy and precious and Yours. Lord, remind us today that you take pleasure in being our Father and our Protector. Thank You for giving us such a clear picture of who we are in You.
