Growing | Bayli Webb
2 Thessalonians 1:3
“We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing.”
Growing and growth in your walk with Jesus,
the importance of being uncomfortable. We are called to be uncomfortable! this is how we grow in our faith. We have new problems and this is okay, because we are or should be continually changing. Stepping out of our comfort zones, leaving those childish ways behind you (1 Corinthians 13:11) absolutely amazing! but we should also clarify of how the growth is produced. First thing growing in Christ is something we cannot produce, yes we are involved in the process but God is the provider. “I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth,” Paul says, “so neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth” Growing in holiness of mind, heart, and life and walking increasingly in step with the Spirit (Galatians 5:25) does not make us the object of praise, but God. “He gives the growth. He is the great supplier behind and in whatever actions we take as means of his grace.” So yes growing in our faith is so important(2 Thessalonians 1:3) essential (Hebrews 12:14) and a command (2 Peter 3:18) we are the people who scatter and plant the seeds around, that’s it we are powerless to making it grow. Only God gives the growth. Our focus is not to be on our actions, our technique, our efforts and resolve to improve, but on the glory of Christ.
“To grow in Christ, we don’t set out to grow; we set out to taste his goodness.” — David Mathis
